Our Story
Amar Chitra Katha was founded in 1967 and is a household name in India. It is synonymous with the visual reinvention of the quintessentially Indian stories from the great epics, mythology, history, literature, oral folktales and many other sources.
Today, Amar Chitra Katha is a cultural phenomenon, boasting of more than 500 comics in 20+ languages that have sold 100+ million copies to date. The titles remain immensely popular in the classic illustrated format. With more than 3.5 million copies sold every year, Amar Chitra Katha is the undisputed leader in the children’s publishing segment in India.
Tinkle is India’s leading children’s English magazine with a circulation running into two lakh issues per month. Anant Pai, also known as Uncle Pai, was the founding editor of the magazine. It has been in print since 1980. A truly pan-India readership makes Tinkle a one-of-a-kind success in Indian publishing, especially in the children’s magazine space. Tinkle magazine holds the Limca Book of Records National record for longest running all-comic magazine for children.
